Cannot access hard drive on Mac router windows 7
I am able to see the network and access the internet but cannot access the hard drive on my mac time capsule. I get a message that I need to enter name and password but it will not accept the input which I know is correct. This computer running windows 7 is connect by ethernet to the time capsule. My macbook pro connects to the time capsule and sees the hard drive and has no network problems. The old postings are not of any help. Seems the protocols have all been changed.

I'd appreciate some help with accessing LM & NTLM settings. It seems the menus have changed in Win7 and the support info has not been updated to match.

The policy is: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level If your system is Windows 7 Home Premium, you may change it from Registry. 1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.2. Find the following branch. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3. Create a DWORD key under Lsa and set: Name: LmCompatibilityLevel Value: 1 4. Restart.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Thanks a lot. Finally got access to the hard drive and other users by changing the Registry per your instructions. Dialog with you was terse, succinct and effective. Can't say the same for telephone support from India. Dick

I followed your instructions and was successful in accessing Time Capsule (TC) again. There are two problems, however. 1. I can only read files but cannot write any files onto Time Capsule. 2. There are frequent access errors to Time Capsule. In other words, when accessing the files or folders on TC, it fails to open folders. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

Arthur: OUTSTANDING--that registry key did the trick. No R/W problems on my Time Capsule thusfar, and everything seems stable. BTW: Win7 is excellent!

I still had issues after pursuing the procedures above. Ultimately the problem was solved by recycling the Time Capsule. I had trouble with this, initially, because the Time Capsule takes a long time to process and I didn't wait long enough. The method that worked was simply powering down the Time Capsule (remove the power connection.)

I think there is a need to use the QWord if your Win7 is a 64bit. Also, try setting the windows index search off. Now the only problem is that if I access the hard disk using two computers (1 Win7 + 1 WinXP) at the same time, the disc stops responding. Any solutions?

Hello Arthur, I have a windows 7 x64 Notebook PC and the Latest 2 TB Time Capsule from Apple. I have tried your fix, it didn't work. I also trawled the boards and found that it may be a Windows Indexing issue, so I turned that off. That also didn't work. Wondering if you have any other ideas? I found this, but haven't had a chance to try it yet To change the LAN Manager authentication level: o From the Win7 desktop, click Start o Search for: security o Click 'Local Security Policy' o Goto Local Policies > Security Options o Under Policy, double-click 'Network security: LAN Manager authentication level' o Change level to: Send LM & NTLM responses o Under Policy, double-click 'Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including RPC) clients' o De-select 'Require 128-bit encryption' o Click OK Any other ideas would be appreciated.

As an additional note, I cannot seem to type in Security and get any viable result in the Search bar, am I doing something wrong?
