Cannot Ping Vista Client
I have a huge problem. I am imaging vista pc's for my company. After the image is completed I cannot ping the client. I can turn off windows firewall and then i can ping. Then i add the client to the network. Now i sign on as the user and once again i cannot ping the machine. This time i cannot even turn off windows firewall. I get the error "WIndows firewall settings cannot be displayed becasue the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the windows firewall service?" YES "WIndows cannot start the firewall service". The weird thing is that the client can connect to the server and companyweb etc. It just seems like it shuts down incoming connections. I am running sbs2003 premium with isa 2006. COuld it somehow be an isa issue??Please HElp!

I am not imaging any computers, but I am having a general network access issue. Or I should say the network's access to my computer.XP Vista Busines w/SP1I have the exact problem stated above. Nothing can ping my machine, but it can ping everything else in the domain.I also noticed the "Automatic Download and Update" option is now grayed out. I have to perform updates manually on my machine. (I don't know if the issue is connected, but it made me think some crazy domain group policy was activated..)When I checked the firewall, I ran into the exact same problem. I also tried disabling the IVP6 junk in desperation. Nothing happened of course.Help....

To turn Ping On on Vista: Go to "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Local Security Policy": "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" -> "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - Local Group Policy Object": Under Overview, select "Windows Firewall Properties": On "Private Profile" tab and under State -> Inbound connections: change Not configured to Allow, Although in "Control Panel" -> "Windows Security Center" it says Firewall is turned off and when you try to click on "Turn on now" button, you get a message that Security Center can't turn on Windows firewall. Any way that status is wrong because when you go to "Control Panel" -> "Windows Firewall" it will say Windows Firewall is on but it states that you are not using the recommended settings. Do Not Change the settings because nothing there can be done to affect the ping issue.

When I select " Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - Local Group Policy Object"This is what displays to the right:"There was an error opening the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-inThe Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in failed to load. Restart the Windows Firewall service on the computer that you are managing. Error code: 0x6D9"So, I go to restart the service (which is not started to begin with, so I am actually starting the service)I get this error:"Windows could not start the Windows Firewall service on Local Computer.Error 1297: A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration. You may use the Services (MMC) snap-in (services.msc) and the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in (secpol.msc) to view the service configuration and the account configuration"-Still Need Help....
