Cannot Open Control Panel Links
Hello everyone, I am having a problem I open my control panel and when I click on 'Uninstall a Program' it does nothing. I have tried several others in the control panel and most are the same way. Only a few things open like 'Change display language' that opens. Something that may or may be related is that IE 9 will not open in 32 bit mode, I can run it just fine in 64 bit mode but when I open 32 bit mode it never opens nor produces any error. This is fresh instal, that doesn't access the web a lot so no virus protection or malware protection (its in a closed environment). I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit Updated with all latest Windows Updates Any ideas?

Is there any record related to this problem in the "System" Windows log in the Event viewer? Bye.Luigi Bruno - Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Award

Not a thing, ive checked all the logs and no errors warnings or even information that really relates to the issue. Ive scanned it with Online scanners to verify that it wasnt infected (which is highly unlikely since it is in a closed environment most of the time.)

This doesn't solve the problem, nor is it useful. I have already ran a test to make sure it wasn't infected.

Try running SFC /scannow from an elevated prompt. The item about Microsoft security Essentials was in reference to checking for a virus. I would recommend downloading and running Malwarebytes to insure you haven't picked up some malware. Jerry

Hi, Please help me collect the control panel item information and check if any abnormal item is listed. Open CMD with administrator privileges and type the following commands. Then go to C drive to upload the CPL.txt CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 DIR *.CPL > C:\CPL.TXT Regarding IE issue, I suggest testing the issue in Safe Mode. The file could be blocked by security software. Regarding IE issue, please check the shortcut of 32-bit IE is in C:\Program Files (x86) Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
