Cannot 'enable bidirectional support' or tell Windows to quit telling me to!
I have a desktop PC running Win7 64-bit which has a perfectly functioning Kodak ESP 7 AiO multi-function printer connected via USB. I also have a laptop running Win7 32-bit wirelessly connected to the same network as the first computer. The printer is shared on the network and shows up in a search on the laptop. It installs ok and even prints ok though it does take quite a long time for the printing to commence (About 5 mins). My problem is that on the laptop, even without using the printer, spoolsv continuously displays a status message every few seconds telling me "Printing - [Printer name] Bidirectional Support is disabled" If I enter the printer properties, the "Enable bidirectional support" checkbox is already ticked and greyed (as are most settings) I've gone through various processes to re-install the printer including a lengthy support service with Kodak and nothing changes (Though the Kodak advisor seemed pre-occupied with getting the printer to work as a local printer on the laptop which is not what I want). I've considered my best solution to be disabling the spooler service or removing the printer in the laptop until I need it but this seems a little drastic. Since the actual printing seems to work fine (albeit with fairly long delays), I'd happily just stop the annoying message if that was possible? Could anyone advise on how to fix this problem or at least stop Windows from nagging me about it every few seconds?!? In case anyone looks up the printer and points out the wi-fi as an alternative method of connection, I am aware I could take this route but I already have too many competing devices trying to connect to the router which has max 4 simultaneous connections.

Hi, If connected by USB, the bi-directional should be grayed out. Thanks. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
