Can you install Windows Thin PC with a thumb drive?
I work in the IT department of a corporate office and we are trying to convert some older desktops into Smart Terminals that access Citrix. We used to use Windows Fundamentals and could never get it to work from a thumb drive (would begin to load the installer then blue screen no matter what). I heard about Windows Thin PC and downloaded it from our volume licensing site and it installs fine over DVD. I used Yumi to put the ISO on a thumb drive and it booted fine (no blue screen of death) but then began asking for drivers for the dvd-rom. It doesn't do this from DVDr only from the thumb drive. Is there a way to set it up where it doesn't get stuck on the screen asking for drivers? We have about 2 dozen machines to convert and I would prefer to install over a thumb stick for speed purposes. Also is there a silent install using an unattended.xml like WinFLP?

Anyone? :( Try checking the designation of the thumb drive in the machines BIOS - you may find that you can change the type by using a different engine to create the bootable drive. That's not the problem. I can boot fine to the thumb drive but after it gets to the point to install it gives an error asking for cdrom drivers when I'm not even using the cdrom.

Yes but Yumi looks to me more of a multi-boot solution utilising what are effectively virtual CDs you need to create a straight bootable flash drive, such as this procedure. http://fullsoftwares2011.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-to-create-bootable-usb-pen-drive_06.html Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth
