Can see PC but can't access any folder
Hi I have two PCs. One has Vista Ultimate and the other has Vista Business. I have connected them through a switch. In either of the PCs, under 'Network' folder, I can see the other PC. But when I double click on one PC, I get the following message: \\<pc name> not found. I have turned on the following: Network discoveryFile SharingPublic Folder sharingPrinter Sharing (although I don't have any printer) I have turned off the following: Password protected sharingMedia sharingAll firewalls I have shared the root drive as shown on microsoft website (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/33307acf-0698-41ba-b014-ea0a2eb8d0a81033.mspx#EMGAE). But I still can't access it. Please advise how I can access the root drive or any shared foler. Thanks...

Tried that way. Did not work. Another point. I have different NIC cardsin both PCs. Could that be an issue?

Hi, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is not blocked by Windows Firewall =============================================== 1) Click Start, type firewall.cpl in the Search Bar and press ENTER. 2) Click the Change settings link. 3) On the General tab, make sure that the Block all incoming connections check box is not selected. 4) Click the Exceptions tab. 5) On the Exceptions tab, make sure that the File and Printer Sharing check box is selected, and then click OK. 2. Please disable the share and re-configure the sharing referring to the following documents to see if it works. File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Enable file and printer sharing http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/e2e03106-2546-4085-bd07-6c3ac95003111033.mspx 3. Please ping the both computers each other with their IP addresses and computer names to see how it works. Meanwhile, I would also share the following related documents with you.
