Can not Join W2K3 network with Vista Buisness or Windows 7 RC
Tried joining an windows 2003 domain with a windows Vista Business and also windows 7 RC. I get the fallowing error message: Title bar: Computer Name/Domain Change "An Active Directory Domain Controller for the domain <Dom ain> could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly. If the name is correct, click details for troubleshooting information. The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller for domain "Domain": The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.yyyy.yyyy The error was: "This operation returned because the timeout period expired." (error code 0X000005B4 ERROR_TIMEOUT) The DNS server used by this Computer for name resolution are not responding. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP address: xx.xx.xx.xx xx.xx.xx.xx xx.xx.xx.xx xx.xx.xx.xx For more information on how to correct this problem, click help." In the above message the yyyy.yyyy represent my domain suffix and xx.xx.xx.xx represent my DNS and WINS IP addresses. The DC is Windows Server 2003 R2. The other computers on the en network are Windows XP Pro SP3. All the other windows XP Pro computers can join the domain with no problems. They ping any server and computer throughout the network on all subnets The windows 7 computer can ping other computers on the same subnet. But can not ping any of the server that are on another subnet. All the information that the windows Vista receives from the DHCP is correct (IP, Gateway, Domain, etc) Tried turning off the firewall on the Vista computer with no change. I device manager there are no error. The network card is working I can be pinged by other computer on the same subnet. Does anybody have any suggestions or solution to this problem. Thank you for your time.
