Can i switch Windows 7 from Enterprise to Ultimate?
Hello, I have downloaded Windows 7 Enterprise 90-day trial edition and installed it on my notebook. The OS is super, so I ordered a retail box copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I have some software installed (MS Office 2007, Adobe CS4 etc.) Will I be able to switch from Enterprise to Ultimate the easy way, without the need to reinstall all the programs and drivers?

Hi,I don't think so. Enterprise is a version thought only for Volume Licensing customers (enterprises) and is not upgradable to any retail version of Windows. You will have to uninstall it, install Windows 7 Ultimate and reinstall yourother software.Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)

You don't actually uninstall Windows 7 Enterprise, you just do a Clean Install of Windows 7 Ultimate which formats the drive during the install.Rich

Hi Timin, As mentioned in the above posts, you need perform a clean installation to install Windows 7 Ultimate over Windows 7 Enterprise. Also, please back up your personal files before the clean installation. The steps of the installation is similar to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7. For more information, please refer to this article. Please start from Step 2. About Windows Easy Transfer, you do not need to download it since it is embedded in Windows 7 Enterprise. Just go to Start, type Windows Easy Transfer in the Search box and then press Enter. Please also refer to Windows 7 Upgrade and Migration Guide. Regards, Linda
