Can I upgrade Windows 7 Professional 32Bit OEM version to Windows 7 Professional 64Bit version without the Windows 7 Professional DVD?
Hello, I recently purchased a new Acer Veriton with Windows 7 Professional 32Bit pre-installed. I have found that a few Adobe products that I want to use, have minimum system requirements of 64Bit OS. Can I use the backup partition to create an installation DVD to clean install a 64Bit version of Windows 7 Professional. I presume my OEM license entitles me to either 32Bit or 64Bit version of Windows 7. If I can not create a Windows 7 Professional installation DVD, can you please point me in the right direction so I can clean install a 64 Bit version. As you can see, I did not get Windows 7 Professional Installation DVD's with my new PC.

Hi, I’m afraid there is no possible to upgrade Windows 7 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 64-bit version of Windows. So if you want to use Windows 7 64-bit, you should perform a clean install to realize. Anymore, you can contact Acer to order the installation disc.

I presume my OEM license entitles me to either 32Bit or 64Bit version of Windows 7. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that. In fact I think thats completely not the case and an OEM license is good for ONLY the specified configuration.

In many cases (well with DELL / HP) you can contact the vendor and they will send out the 32 bit OS for you, they all know that 64 bit is not ready for the masses.
