Can I remove older Microsoft downloads to free up space on my HD?
I want to know if I can remove older downloads that are taking up space on my HD. I have a number of items that I would like to remove if it doesn't make the more recent download not work. Does that make sence? For example I have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 service pk 2, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 sp1. Do all of these need to be taking up space on my HD?The same is true with Microsoft Visual c++ 2005 ALT, C++ 2005 redistributable, 2005 C++redistributable, C++2008 ALT..., C++2008 redistributable x86 and then MSXML 4.0 SP2 and MSXML 4.0 SP2 ParserThank you in advance for your suggestions and words of wisdom!1 person needs an answerI do too

another option is to run something like ATF , for 'all temp files'. If you've not run this in the lifetime of your pc, you'd be pleasantly surprised how much kludge it will clean up. For instance, my wife runs Vista, has had the laptop for a couple years, never did any sort of maintenance on it; ran that, cleared up over a gig of space. Of course, by far and away the easiest method is to just buy a new HD and toss it in the case. They are dirt cheap these days (assuming we are taking about a desktop and not a laptop) and that way you can have the added security of having your important data on a drive other than the system drive. hth, vM.V.P. - Desktop Experience | M.C.S.A. | M.C.P. - MS Server 2k3, Network Architecture
