Can I launch IE8 with different tab sets for different purposes?
I'd like to be able to launch IE8 with different tab sets depending on my needs for a particular session. I know I can save tab sets and launch them, but that requires closing any pages that open on launching IE. For instance I have one tab set that I use for general use and another for technical use, and another for buying and shopping. It would be useful to have a way to click on an IE shortcut to start up IE with a particualr tab set. Is there a way of doing this? Running under Win7 RC(I'm new to these forums so I hope this isn't a FAQ - I can't find anything else on this anyway)

No,IMO its's not possible, 'couse tab set keeps in your user's profile (C:\Users\YourUserAccountName\Favorites\Links ) This folder is unique for each user. My English is not very well.

Many thanks. Now you've pointed that out I see where the problem lies and I won't be able to do this directly. Might be a useful addtion though for later versions of IE if MS can sort out a way of doing this.

Running under Win7 RC(I'm new to these forums so I hope this isn't a FAQ - I can't find anything else on this anyway) Here, try this. It's not exactly what you want, but it's pretty darned close. The trick is this: There is a special folder in userprofile\Favorites named Favorites Bar. IE8 uses its contents to build and display the FavoriteBar above the MenuBar. Normally, you'd just have single .url type entries in there, and they each individuallyappear on the FavoriteBar. But if you drop a folder into userprofile\Favorites\Favorites Bar, that whole folder will appear as a single entry on the IE8 FavoriteBar.You can click that folder iconto open the whole group. Of course, you can put as many folders in there as you like.I find the easiest way to manage .url bookmarks in Favorites is to manipulate them like any other file via Windows Explorer, viewing theuserprofile\Favorites folder. You can accomplish the same thing totally from within IE8, using the Favorites menus and tools. Which ever way you find easiest, the trick above is to create folders of your desired Tab Groups within the Favorites Bar subfolder. No, they won't automatically open when you boot IE8 (as you inquired). But yes, they'll be conveniently on the Favorite Bar for you to select.(If you have turned off the IE8 Favorite Bar, you'll need to turn it back on to make use of this. Right-click the MenuBar for that option).
