???The Beta and RC were free. The final version (what one would pay for), while it's been released to manufacturing, has not yet hit store shelves (launch date: 22 Oct.)Bottom line: how would one refund 'free?' A check for $0.00?</ducks and runs>-Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. It was available as a preorder from Microsoft and other souces. But what if I paid top doller for this and realized after the fact that so many featuresI have come to know have bean removed from this edition since no mention of this is provided with the DVDpackage?Rendering Windows Explorerfor exampleunusableand in addition to thisthe wide variety of bugs that were reported for the RC version were discussed but never solved and as a result the final version was released with a long list of missing or disfunctional features? Come now.

There is the preorder, yes. However, I've been under the impression that preorders aren't to be shipped until the launch date. Are you saying that you've already received yours?[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. My question was basically when the product arrives at my house or if when purchased at a retail store will this be refundable - will there be any recompense for people who don't know what they're getting into?

Come now. Fahrvergngen: you write that you see a wide variety of bugs. I have been running win 7 beta and win 7 rc for many months now without a single issue. I would like to know which bugs you encounter and which ones have not been fixed.

Hi If you placed a pre-order from the Microsoft Store, you can cancel it at any time. Your credit card will not be charged until the product is shipped to you on October 22, 2009.Even after you receive the product, you still have 30 days to return the product and get a refund, even if you have already installed the product. If you purchased the product from another retailer, contact that retailer and check their return policies.Hope this helps.Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Above we see the Microsoft store's policy, according to Mr. Vernon we have 30 days for a full refund.See other retailers for their individual policies. It's very interesting thatin the event of consumer dissatisfaction Microsoft does have ashow of pride and the assurance of quality in theform oftheir own money back guarantee to back up their product and as a satement of it's worth.Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. Could it be that Microsoftis scarred to offersuch aguarantee and if so, why?

HiI'm not sure what you mean by "Could it be that Microsoft is scarred to offer such a guarantee and if so, why?"What I described is the refund policy for the Microsoft Store.Microsoft has always offered a45 day money back guarantee for any of their retail software products? See the following website for more information.Microsoft North American Retail Product Refund Guidelines The only products that they do not guarantee are the OEM versions of their software. These versions are sold to PC makers at a huge discount and those PC makers assume all responsibility for selling and supporting those versions.Hope this helps.Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
