Can Access Internet Just Fine, But Can't Connect to 2K3 Domain
I installed build 5384 and everything seemed to be working fine after updating all my hardware drivers. However, when I attempt to join my domain, I keep getting an "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." error. Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem? I can ping the domain controller and the gateway just fine and even access the internet. I checked DNS and it is registered properly. I checked DHCP and there is a reservation and lease for the vista machine. Any help would be appreciated. Glenn M.

Okay, here's something else weird. I can browse to any share on the vista box and even write to a folder from my domain controller. But, I still can't join the domain from the vista box. I'm going to try to access a share on the domain controller from the vista box next.

Had thesame problem connecting 64 bit Vista to an sbs2003 domain, I think it has to do with ISA server.

I don't have an ISA server. Do you have one in your environment? If so, are you using it as a proxy to your internet access? Also, what kind of settings did you need to change?

I took the extreme approach and de installed ISA Server

Has there been any more light on this problem? I am not keen on removing ISA from my network, and i would love vista to join on the domain. Still happens with RC1

it seems to be a firewall problem, just for the future follow the bellow steps 1. Right click on Firewall Policy and click Edit System Policy. Click onActive Directory and uncheck "Enforce Strict RPC Compliance". 2. Click onFirewall Policy and locate the "SBS Protected Network Access Rule" and rightclick on the rule and select "Configure RPC Protocol"Uncheck "Enable StrictRPC Compliance" 3. Click on Firewall Policy and locate the "SBS Internet Access Rule" andright click on the rule and select "Configure RPC Protocol"Uncheck "Enable Strict RPC Compliance" 4. From Add-insClick on Filters and search for the " RPC Filter ". Disable the RPCfilter in the properties of the same.
