not that i have absolutley no use in any of software and non of them worked properly when i needed it now i can't even remove it nice job microsoft.i have decided that i don't want this softwares from the following reasons:1.windows movie maker doesn't have enaf options when i just wanted to create a mirror of a wmv file i didn't found an option to do that.2.when i just tried to send and email it doesn't show anything in sent items.3.i don't use your messenger at all i use miranda.your photo gallery software is not a problem but i already have picasa and acdsee so i don't need another.the problem is that now i can't uninstall this softwares i get an error 0x80004004 what can i do to get rid of this programs now once and for all?thanks in advance.

i already did it and it caused even more troubles because the live essentials uninstaller doesn't recognize any software i'v managed to remove some of them by reinstalling them directly from the msi file then uninstall them but i still have problems removing messenger and live mail problem withregistry keys that don't really exist so i don't know what to do with it at the moment but i do know what i am never going to install again except maybe just to uninstall it.

Windows Live programs should be listed separately like below:Please install and run it as Administrator. Ifwe still cannot remove it, please test to go to Programs and Features in Control Panel, double click Windows Live Essentials, try a repair first. After it finished, do an uninstall again.If it does not exist in Programs and Features, click Download in this link to get a full package of Windows Live, try to do an install as a repair and then uninstall.

i'm not an idiot i'v already did everything you said and more but forget about just another dissapointed from microsoft that i should add to my collection of dissapointments next time i'll format my computer i would know better then to installer microsoft windows live crapy softwares.

i don't think that http://help.live.com/would help all it tells you is how to uninstall it the normal way it doesn't say what to do if the uninstaller is crapy and doesn't work which this is the case and i don't think that this new forum would work as well so i'll leave it for now untill a more serious problem would force my to use my acronis backup which doesn't include this softwares.

I was going to ask them as well. Messenger fails routinely on a reboot and sometimes needs 2-3 attempts to get it to start. The Iinstaller Clean Utility may not bre doing it's job for you.You can browse for to these registry keys and delete the windows live entries manually:Right click on products and type a few letters of the installer name from the cache path I describe below the dotted line into the key search box at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\ProductsRight click on Uninstall to search the same way for this keyHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Cache pathJust for your information there is a cache where windows live places alll of the installaton files. I understand that you paid a lot of money for the Windows Live programs you installed and therefore these people should bend over backwards to help you. That was sarcasm, just in case you are not smart enough to catch it, which, by the looks of your spelling skills (crapy is not a word), this may be the case. Have a lovely day!

in case you haven't noticed this thread was post on december 14 meaning many day's before,second of all Windows installer clean utility did not worked nor does the msi files uninstall option and the registry keys that are causing the problem with the uninstall option don't even exist meaning somebody did a poor job making this installer and also the softwares them self are not so great or i wouldn't tried to uninstall them in the first place.and beside i have already restored my windows from acronis backup long ago meaing this hall thread is useless any way and i didn't have all this problem if microsoft knew how to make software properly and at the moment i just don't see it there live softwares are cr*p there wmp12 don't support ac3 format even when there is a codec installed and there windows 7 has a lot of hidden problem as you can see by going over my threads in this forum.And have a lovely day too!

I was unable to successfully update Windows Live Messenger via IE setup when prompted to update. Message: "Windows Messenger will not connect must update to latest version"... Installation was initiate but was rolled back and gave a 0x80004004 error which was non-specific. This appears to be a common problem for many people. This installation did not complete successfully and I had much trouble in figuring out why. Solution: Download the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Uninstall Utility and install it. Download the Windows Live Essentials installer program and save it to a known location. DON'T RUN IT until completing the following steps: 1) Run msconfig.exe from Start > Run > type msconfig.exe into search box. Run it as administrator. 2) Select "Diagnostic Startup" starting only basic windows services. Make sure all startup programs are unchecked under the Startup Tab. 3) Apply, OK, and reboot and login. 4) Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86). Delete all files under the directory Windowns Live. Remove the directory. 5) Navigate to Common Files\Microsoft Shared and delete all the files in the Windows Live directory. Remove the directory. 6) Navigate to C:\Program Files and c:\Program Files\Common Files and delete all the files in the Windows Live directories. Remove the directories. 7) Run msicuu.exe, Select all references to Windows Live and anything else that you might want to uninstall completely that is still has remnants on your system. 8) Clean the registry using a registry cleaner such as Registry Mechanic or Advanced System Care (clean registry). <This step may be optional, but I did it...> If any files do not delete then any services that are using them must be stopped (this should not be a problem, because the only services running are basic Windows Services... the Startup items have been disabled. Make sure that all AV programs, firewall defense programs, Ad-aware program etc. are disabled/turned off temporarily. 9) Run msconfig.exe and select Normal Boot. Reboot, Login, and make sure that AV programs are temporarily turned off. 10) Now you can run the Windows Live Installer, selecting the desired components and it should complete without issues. This routine worked for me and did not require that I take the instructions offered by Microsoft which were to restore my system and rerun the installer. If the msicuu.exe is run then this might work right off, but I wanted to make sure that all traces of Windows Live were removed from my system before reinstalling... The original installation failed because all traces of the previous Windows Live Platform could not be unistalled during the installation routine. I had to uninstall these traces manually using the routine described in Steps 1-10 above. Good Luck.
