Can't share new folders anymore
Ok thank you for your effort! I've tried to change a couple of things, and when I shared through the wizard, I can access the newly shared folders. So I guess something went wrong in advanced sharing options. The only thing I still can't share is a drive. My "media" computer has a 1.5TB drive with folder in the root that lead to movies or series and other stuff. Sharing the drive would allow me to have just one folder in my network list. Right now I can't share the drive, but I can share all folders individually. Do you know if there is a way I could share a complete drive?

My problem: When I share a new folder on my network, I can see the newly shared folder on the other computer in the shared network screen. But when I try to open that folder I get an error that I can't acces it. It says I have no permission. I do know how to share folders, and I have been doing it for a while. The strange thing is that folder I shared a while back still work perfectly. Both pc's run Windows 7 fully updated. I have no idea what is causing this, and how I could solve my problem. I recorded all my steps with the problem recorder, but my windows is dutch. http://www.2shared.com/file/giKFbwnG/problem.html

1. First of all try to disable firewall on both computers (hope your computers are on local network behind router with filtering capabilities) 2. When you disable firewall on both Windows 7 computers, the shares should be visible and accessible, if the permissions are correctly set. 3. There are two disnctive security models, workgroup and domain. In workgroup the security is under the belt of local administrator, in domain the security is centralized. 4. In workgroup you should have the same user account credentials on both computers, if the user is allowed to access both, the local and shared resources. 5. In domain the user credentials are the same for entire domain system. 6. Be aware of differences between local credentials and those that can be used on other computers: Administrator is local account to coputer where user Administrator logs in domain\administrator is global administrator in domain PC2\user is local user to PC2. On PC2 it suffice to fill in user only, if you want to reach PC2 shared resources from PC1, use PC2\user. This applies to workgroup. 7. If you resolve problems with credentials, you can return to firewall settings and allow for access via ports 137-139 and 445 (It suffice 445 fo connection) 8. If you still have problem, use network monitor (either from Microsoft or free Wireshark) Regards Milos
