Can't share files or open a share folder when password has been changed
When i installed Vista Home Premium everything work fine - I could network - share files, folders etc.But the minute i changed the Administrative user account password ( the default login screen given at install time), all bets are off!! Couldnt share anymore from another network computer. I tried everything!!!. Reboot, unshare Public folder, re-share public folder , re-select add user who can access. Nope, to no avail ! Put the original password back in the main user account ( default administration account) and everything is ok - i can share files & folders. So, Does Vista have issues with usuer accounts, folders or file ownerships

Check if the Password protected sharing is ON, if it's on turn it off.

if your refering to the "password protected sharing on/off" in Networking Sharing Center, I did that already. As i said, I tried everything. I can only network on any of my PC's if i put my old password back in ( the original one i used just after the Vista install)

If Iuse the original password i created at the time of Vista install then sharing files / folders over the network works fine without really doing any kind of intervention. But If i decide to change the password ( there's only one profile BTW, the admistrative profile) all the files & folders in vista desktop are normally accessible. But when i try to acces them over the network ( home network) i get an invalid password entered ( even tho its the same password used when i changed it). Like i mentioned earlier, i tried clicking uncliking authority, permission, whatever.... I still get the same 'Invalid password' So I gave up, I changed the passord back to the original password. Strangely enough, i can share files /folders over the Network. I think Vista has issues with User Accounts and the Login window. I also noticed Vista dosent always allow the Administrator access to some of the files or folders on the pc its been installed on! I never had any issues like that with XP!!??

In order to restrict access to important and confidential files and folders, we can set a password on them. Here I will talk about something simple to do but very effective if you want to password protect your sensitive files and folders. As far as we know, many of computer users use Winrar for normal day to day compression of files & folders. Using Winrar you can encrypt and password protect your files & folders in a single click. The process is too simple.you can read more reference from my blog: http://www.blog.recoverlostpassword.com Source(s): if you want to decrypt an RAR file as you have forgotten the password, one of best choice is RAR Password recovery 5.0 which proved to be an effective way to uncover lost or forgotten passwords. http://lost-password.net/products/rarpasswordrecovery.html
