Can't send email with a jpg attachment
Beat to death on MSNewsgroups with no solution. I have 2 comps neither of which can send an email with a jpg attachment. Neither message nor attch is sent. Message first appears in Outbox, then Sent. Changed identities and quite a few other things - no joy. Any thoughts would be appreciated. WinXP SP3, OE6 connect thru ISPDave1 person got this answerI do too

HiFirst check if there is any size or other stipulation that your ISP puts on attachments when using their pop3/smtp server. If the address that suppose to get the email does not have the space or other security restriction for attachment it will work either. The solution might be establishing an account with Windows Live mail and using it for such purposes. If a messages appears in Sent Items, the it was successfully received by your ISP. There is one exception. E-mail scanning can fool OE into thinking the message was sent when it was not.Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for loss of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your emailhttp://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htmNote that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option arises. Thanks Bruce - we've had this discussion before in MSNews.........I have MSE running properly on this machine, and I have the appropriate files (dbx, jpg, jpeg) excluded. My ISP's limit is 35 megs; I don't even come close.Surfing around this new MS Forums beast, I see a LOT of problems with attachments - unfortunately not the one I'm having. Guess snail mail is good for a while yet.Dave

If you send it to yourself do you get it? Does it show on your server's Webmail site? How about in a new identity?File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it.Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity. How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook Expresshttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209169An Outlook Express basic repair kit:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/oerepair.mspx#EHH Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

It sounds like your ISP. I would check with them about it as well. If its in your sent items, then something downstream of your computer is eating it. steve "Sabre Dave" wrote in message news:e4bdeaf2-6bac-4b7b-8e04-a30573e2e8e7...Send to myself - don't getDoes not show on server's webmailHave changed identity - actually twice, imported addresses & messages no problem - deleted all elseThink I went thru the OE repair kit previously, but I'll check again and post back.D
