Can't see local machines but internet works perfectly
Hi All,My 64 bit installation went fine (except for a PCI simple communications controller!), and it installedthe LAN adaptor, an intel one.Problem is, I can't see any other machines on the network, only my own.I can browse the internet and use antivirus updates, skype, etc but no local machines are seen.I have joined my workgroup, tried the default, WORKGROUP, IPv6 on or off, nothing works.yes discovery is on, yes im in the office setting, nothing.I can however manually connect via \\machinename\ to a windows 2003 server only, it doesnt show in the list but but i can get to it's shares manually. But all the other xp machines on my network, no go.please help!many thanks.

The internet may seem to be working perfectly, does network and sharing centre confirm this? Is it still identifying perhaps? Also, you may want to check under Network and sharing centre if you are connected to a private network or public, if network discovery is on, password sharing and media sharing options etc.

All yes to your questions, and I've downloaded drivers, updates, etc, even posted to this forum from IE.As i said in my first question, discovery is onm and it's private network for work. Thanks for the answer though. I fear this may be a driver issue.
