Can't replace my router with a new one?
Currently I am using a Linksys WRT150N router. We recently bought a VIZIO XWR100 router. What I am trying to do is to replace the Linksys router with my new VIZIO router. Seems simple enough. I unplugged everything from my Linksys router. Going by the start guide of my new router, I connected my internet modem to my router and connected my computer to the router with Ethernet cables. Fine. It says to type http://vizio.home or http://192.168.1.1 to start the Quick Start App after waiting 30 seconds. I wait 30 seconds, type it in and... nothing. I wait even longer and type it in. Still nothing. No clue what's going on. Manuals don't seem to offer any help because it doesn't even acknowledge that this can happen. If I plug back in my Linksys router, everything is fine. But when I plug in my VIZIO router, I can't connect to it. I've tried looking online but I could not find anything that worked. I have Windows 7 currently installed if that is relevant. Thanks for any help.

Could you do the following? Plug back the Vizio router, power it on and open up cmd prompt and type ipconfig /all & hit enter, next post the default gateway IP here

When I type ipconfig /all, I get this next to Default Gateway: fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%11 192.168.1.1 Normally it's just 192.168.1.1 but with the Vizio, I get that extra line.

" It says to type http://vizio.home or http://192.168.1.1 to start the Quick Start App after waiting 30 seconds. I wait 30 seconds, type it in and... nothing." Care to share where you type the above? Is it open IE broswer and type from there? Btw have you try resetting the router back to default? Alternatively you might wanna update the router firmware

I've tried it with IE, Firefox and Chrome, all the same thing. I think I've tried resetting the router back to default. Just push and hold down the reset button on the back of the router, correct? I haven't updated the firmware yet. I'll have to look up how to do that. I won't be able to do it until Friday though. Thanks for the help so far!

have you tried https://192.168.1.1 ? that extra line fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%11 is an IPv6 IP address. open a DOS box, type tracert 192.168.1.1 What's that give you?

Btw have you try resetting the router back to default? Alternatively you might wanna update the router firmware I can't update the firmware because I can't log in to the router. Unless there's another way of doing it but the Vizio website says to do it through the router login. I tried resetting the router back to default (I just hold down the reset key, right? The power light starts blinking after awhile) and at first I thought it worked then. I get a Vizio page that says "Internet Connection Not Detected". I follow the instructions on the page (basically unplug the power for the modem and the router, wait awhile and then replug them back in) and click on "retry". After awhile, I get page not found again.

have you tried https://192.168.1.1 ? Yup. Same thing; nothing. that extra line fe80::200:ff:fe00:0%11 is an IPv6 IP address. open a DOS box, type tracert 192.168.1.1 What's that give you? Tracing route to 192.168.1.1 over a maximum of 30 hops Destination host unreachable

Sorry for the delay. Did you get an answer to this? It sounds like your traffic is being blocked on the way out of your computer, which is odd, cause it also sounds like the router has given you an IP address. If you plug the other one back in do you get out fine? Just to clarify if you're still having the problem, you say , I connected my internet modem to my router and connected my computer to the router with Ethernet cables. You're on cable right? not ADSL through phoneline? You are effectively taking the Linksys WRT150N out and putting the VIZIO XWR100 back in, wired the same way?

Once you plug your new router in, have you tried typing ipconfig /renew in a DOS box?

Hmm if you're using adsl, i assume you are require to input the username and password given to you by the ISP on the router page itself prior to connecting to the net? So did you ensure is apply prior to saving and exit the router config page?

If you can't get into your router through 192.168.1.1, I believe your router might be bad.

Once you plug your new router in, have you tried typing ipconfig /renew in a DOS box? When I type that in, I get this: Windows IP Configuration The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation. You mention here you managed to get a vizio page that says internet connection not detected. You also mention you're using adsl? Hmm if you're using adsl, i assume you are require to input the username and password given to you by the ISP on the router page itself prior to connecting to the net? So did you ensure is apply prior to saving and exit the router config page? I only get the Vizio page if I reset the router. Otherwise I get nothing. I can't input my username and password as I can't get on to the router page itself. I type in 192.168.1.1 in a browser and it tells me that it can't display the page. If you can't get into your router through 192.168.1.1, I believe your router might be bad. That's what I'm worried about. Just a hassle to return it and plus I have to look for the receipt. *sigh*
