Can't rename a file on Win7 redirected desktop.
Dear All, I have seen similar posts to this, but none (that I have found) are exactly the same, and while I have carried out the remediation for the similar issues, it hasn't fixed my exact issue, so if anyone can help, much appreciated :) Scenario: User is trying to change the case of one or more characters in a file name on a redirected desktop and gets the following warning "File Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from DOMAIN\Username to make changes to this file". Adding or removing any number of characters will allow the action to be performed. ie changing "new spreadsheet" to "New spreadsheet" fails but "New spreadsheet1" works. Environment: Windows 7 Professional desktop, joined to a 2003 SBS / 2008 member server domain (2003 PDC, 2008 has user shares). Redirection is pushed out by Group Policy. The user is logged on as DOMAIN\Username and has full control permissions and ownership rights to the: redirected share (\\Server\Users\Username), The folder name containing the file (\\Server\Users\Username\Desktop), and the file itself (\\Server\Users\Username\New Spreadsheet.xls) Any ideas? The work around to rename the file twice is acceptable (adding then removing characters for instance), but doesn't explain what is going on and why, and I am concerned that there is a greater problem waiting to rear its head. Thanks is advance, Jim

Hi, Does the issue only occurs on this machine? If so, please use a new one to reproduce the same environment to test the issue.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem in the identical environment. Windows 7 Professional desktops and Server 2008R2 Standard. I have tried with a different users on diferent machines, tried in virtual environment as well. User has full control permissions and ownership rights to the redirected file, tried to add user to the local administrators group but hadn't any luck. I can change the character case on the server, but if I want to change the case of one or more characters on the desktop I have to rename the file twice. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!!!
