Can't print on LAN printer when connected to VPN - win 7
Hi, We're using the built-in VPN-client in Windows 7 to connect to a VPN-server (over which we have no control). The connection settings are all default except that "use default gateway in external network" (under the advanced network settings) has been cleared. The VPN connection is used for one software only, so we need internet access outside that software as well. Once connected to the VPN, we can no longer print to the printers on the LAN (shared via AD). The error message in the print queue is "access denied". Everything else works: - internet access - access to shared drives (via the same AD as the printers) - the software for which the VPN is used As far as I can see, this is a Win 7 problem, but it doesn't appear on all of our Win 7 clients. I've tried with different printers, different clients and both 32- and 64-bit, but there's no pattern to what works and what doesn't. I've been scanning forums for similar issues, but found no answers to my problem. I've tried remedies such as changing the binding in the registry but to no avail. Another suggestion was changing a setting in a pbk-file, but this file doesn't exist on our client (at least not where it's supposed to be according to all the forums I've tried) Does anyone have an idea? thanks in advance, Daniel

In the meantime we've found a workaround: by connecting to the network printers directly from the clients, and not via AD, we can print while connected to the VPN. this is sufficient for now, but it would be interesting to hear if there's a proper solution

Hi Daniel, Glad to hear you have found the workaround. I suggest you can check whether the following thread could help.
