Can't ping or tracert into DMZ
Today I switched my laptop from WinXP SP3 to Win7 Enterprise. I have managed to get a wired connection to the network/Internet and login to the domain at my office. I can ping and tracert to everything on the local IP subnet (192.168.67.x) plus our other locations' subnets (all 192.168.x.x), but when I attempt to connect to devices in our DMZ (169.254.1.x) I get a return response: COMPUTERNAME [LOCAL IP ADDRESS] reports : Destination host unreachable. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps: Disable IPv6 Turn off Windows Firewall Stop the IP Helper service Clear the ARP cache Followed every step I could from http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314067?p=1 No luck all around. This was not a problem on XP SP 3. Win 7 is running on the exact same PC/wired port so it should not be a router issue. It appears Win 7 is returning the "Destination host unreachable" error, but I have been unable to determine what part of Win 7 is doing this. It apparently doesn't "know" this subnet exists and won't pass it to the gateway to let it do it's job. Any ideas on what is causing this would be apprecited.

Your references simply reinforce that there's a problem in Windows 7. This is a single-homed PC. Looking at my routing table, there is no specific route for the DMZ subnet so Windows should fall back on the default route which forwards to the gateway. The gateway absolutely knows about the subnet as this subnet is connected to the gateway, a route exists, and all other PC's on the network, none of which are Windows 7, can connect into the DMZ without an explicit route. The only way I can get it to connect is to forcibly add a route to the DMZ, which should not be necessary. It also appears I'm not the only one having this problem...http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7hardware/thread/59bcb7f5-fcca-44a4-b1db-787b1d269825
