Can't ping adr: 10.1.0.1 port 1470 directly connected to vista pc.  Must be a settings problem?
I have connected a unit which is a serial(RS232) to network tcp/ip adapter directly to PC with a crossed cable. A supplied config program for the unit is able to detect it, read the firmware version and settings. And with this program I can change the units communication modes: tcp listener / tcp server etc. Rx led and Tx led on the unit responds. But it is impossible to ping the unit, even when the firewall is turned off and network-search is enabled. How can that bee? I plan to make an application with C# 2010, running on the PC to send and receive data through the serial port on this unit. (It is named ezl-50L , from Sollae systems).

Hi amdal, Do you get error message when you try to ping the unit? See the Sollae systems links below which addresses similar issue, you may follow the steps provided: http://www.sollae.co.kr/en/Support/view.php?bbs_id=3&page=3&cid=496 http://www.sollae.co.kr/en/FAQ/view.php?page=1&cid=175 You may want to check with unit manufacturer for any known issues http://www.sollae.com/en/Support/qna_01.php?page=8 Thanks and Regards: Ajay K Microsoft Answers Support EngineerVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Hello, and thanks for your interest. I have studied the proposed links and other support at Sollae systems and in a direct answer from their support is suggested: // Please check if EZL-60 and your PC are the same subnet or not.// To communicate over the TCP/IP, hosts should be the same network.//// For example, if EZL-60's IP address [is 10.1.0.1/255.0.0.0], your PC is needed to be set to [10.1.0.2/255.0.0.0]. The problem is that in Network and Sharing Center the device is not recogniced as anything but unknown network, and I can't find any place/command to check or change Subnet or any other IP adresses. When I try to ping the device packages are sent, but is lost and Request timed out. The Rx led on the device are not responding either. Is there a way to open a new port or connection to set the right IP and subnet? It seems all the possible options are dealing with wireless connections or printers. Regards Amdal

Hello again. Found out where to complete the configuration fields needed. So now I can connect to, and ping the device. If anyone else can be helped: 1. Start menu, control panel, network and sharing center. 2. Task list on the left: manage network connections 3. Right click on Local area connection, choose properties. 4. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click Properties. 5. Click on Use the following address. 6. Enter IP address. (In my case it was 10.1.0.2) 7. The right subnet mask popped in by itself! Choose OK. Regards Amdal
