Can't open email attachments .docx and .xlsx
Problem Description: I'm running Window XP. On Window Outlook Express 6.0, I have always been able to open .doc and .xls attachments. I have recently recieved attachments of .docx and .xlsx which won't open, and brings up a message that I don't have a program associated with it, and to create an option in the Folder Options control panel. How do I find the Folder Options control panel, and what do I need to do when I get there?? -- or what else can I do to open the .docx and .xlsx documents?1 person needs an answerI do too

Save the attachments to the Desktop. Then right click on them and choose Open With and then designate the appropriate program and set that to always open such a file. steve "144man" wrote in message news:5aad7f7b-e877-42d5-9c6e-8beb860fbcc5...Problem Description: I'm running Window XP. HiThese files are associated with office 2007 and above. If you have No Office suit, or an old suit that can not open the newer files they can not be opened.Downloading and installing these free Viewers might help in reading and printing the files.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac&displaylang=enhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1cd6acf9-ce06-4e1c-8dcf-f33f669dbc3a&displaylang=en-----------------------Jack MVP-Networking. Do you have MS Word and Excel installed? Word opens .docx files and Excel opens .xlsx files. If you don't have those programs, then get the viewers.MS Word 2007 Viewerhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=3657CE88-7CFA-457A-9AEC-F4F827F20CAC&displaylang=enExcel Viewerhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1CD6ACF9-CE06-4E1C-8DCF-F33F669DBC3A&displaylang=en Then create the association.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]
