I had to factory default my HP laptop. I was not prompted for a password before the restore to factory default begun. I did however, get prompted to create a user name and password during this process. After the install completes and the system is reloaded, I enter the correct password and the system would not take it. I have to enter the same password several times before it takes if at all. I verified I do not have a bad keyboard. I went through this process three times. My next step is to use WRE and or create a password reset disk before reloading, last but not least, I may call HP and request them to send me the actual CDs to do the recovery. Any other ideas?

Hello, please check that the keyboard language have not changed. If this does not help, try again the recover operation and be carefull when typing the password. Better to keep it blank. I do not recommend blank passwords, its not secure Windows MVP, XP, Vista, 7.
