Can't log into windows.
My daughter was playing on my spare computer. She must have altered the settings because when you turn the computer on, it now asks for a user name, and password to log into windows. The problem is the computer was given to me, and the prievious owner can't remember the user name, and password. How can I fix this? I have a reinstallation disk. Will using it reset the computer, and allow me to access windows? If yes how do you use the disk, if you can't access windows.1 person needs an answerI do too

Start the computer in Safe mode and log into the built-in account named Administrator . You'll have to know the password, if any, for that account. Once in, go to Control Panel > User Accounts and change the password for your regular account.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional

Thanks, Steve. I am having trouble with safe mode. I hit f8, but it won't go into safe mode. Is there another way for a xp home edition? Once I get it in safe mode, what do I do if it requires a password. Like I said the computer was given to me. I keep it for my daughters to play games on, ect. Its nice for them to play, and learn on. I don't want to throw it away because of this. I don't want them on my new computer either. Help.
