Can't install various software (including visual studio) on Windows 7 Enterprise.
I am having trouble installing various software (visual studio is one example). I don't know if it is related, but my computer has not been able to intall an xml 4.0 update (KB954430). I have followed the thread below, and tried all suggestions
to no avail.

Please help! Am i going to have to reinstall windows 7 and start from the beginning???

I would like to confirm what error is received when installing program and what error appears when installing the update.
First, please make sure the program version is compatible with Windows 7. In addition, please update your device drivers and BIOS to latest version.Vivian Xing - MSFT
