This 64 bit Acer laptop had Lync running, the April 14, 2015 update was run, now on startup this message appears:

"Lync is becoming Skype for Business. To run this app you need to install the April 14, 2015 update for Skype for Business. See KB2889923 for details..."

Both 32 and 64 bit updates have been attempted.

The 64 bit install says there are no products affected by this package.

The 32 bit install says an error occurred while running detection.

Previously it asked to uninstall Lync but it cannot be found.

Can anyone suggest steps to get a clean install of Lync?

The current Lync Client version running is 32 or 64 bits?.

The current Lync Client installed in working fine?

Did you try to unistall or repair Lync Client from Windows Control Panel?.

In order to intall the update: KB2889923 yous must have first KB2889853, KB2817430 and finally KB2889923 will install correctly depending the correct version, 32 or 64 bits.

Thanks for the reply Carlos, we have decided to replace the laptop anyway so a new install will resolve this and other problems found.
