Can't get my windows7 rc1 desktop to save my advanced sharing settings
I have been trying to make my computer running windows 7 rc1 x64 discoverable on my network for some time now however it has worked to no avail. Every time I go and turn on network discovery and file sharing, I click save settings and the UAC never pops up to allow it. Then I go back in and the settings have been defaulted back to disable. I turned off the UAC to see if that would help at all but again to no avail. I am stuck because I have a netbook running RC1 x86 and it works fine. Does someone have any fix to this and if it includes using the command prompt or anything from the repair feature when booting from the win7dvd could you please provide detailed instructions to try. Thanks

Hi, First, I would like know if any firewall or anti-virus program is installed. If so, please temporarily disable it and try again. If it persists, you can enable the system built-in admin account: Enable built-in admin account ============== 1. Click Start, click "All Programs", please find and open "Accessories" folder. 2. Please right-click on "Command Prompt" item and select "Run as administrator". 3. Please type the following command line in to the coming window. net user administrator /active:yes Note: There is a space between "Administrator" and "/active:yes". 4. Log off and log on the "Administrator" account. Does it work? If not, please make sure the following services are started: Verify the relevant services==================1. Click the Start Button, in Start Search box, type: "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter. 2. Double click the service "SSDP Discovery".3. Click on the "General" tab; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic" or "Manual". Then please click the "Start" button under "Service Status" to start the service. 4. Please repeat the above steps with the "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" If the issue persists, you can test it in Clean Boot mode. Hope it helps.Vivian Xing - MSFT
