Can't get into Safe Mode at startup
I have a Win XP Pro Sp2 (3?) HP Pavilion system. I've tried tapping F8 repeatedly at startup before Windows appears and all I get is a very loud alarm before it loads Windows. The key seems to have a lock icon on it and the other key icons don't mean much to me. Then tried F2 and Fn per web suggestions and at least I don't get an alarm but it also immediately goes into Windows. I saw an alternative involving msconfig but was curious why the traditional way doesn't work with my keyboard? My system is working fine but wanted to explore Administrator rights since two new programs will not install in my current configuration (private computer with one user, not networked). Thanks, Sue 1 person needs an answerI do too
