Can't get any kind of networking to work between desktop and laptop
I have a Dell desktop and a dell laptop. Both are running Windows 7 Ulitmate 64 bit. Both are on a wireless network. The desktop is also on a LAN connection. I also have a static IP address. When I go to Windows Explorer and click on "network" I can see MARDI-PC and MARDI-Laptop on both the PC and the laptop. When I set up a home-group on my PC and then went to my laptop. When I go to the Network Sharing Center and click on the "available to join" link next to Homegroup, I come to a screen that says "Mardi-PC has created a homegroup". When I click on the Join Now button, click "next", enter the password and it thinks for a while and finally says "windows can't set up a home group on this computer". So, I figured I would just do a remote desktop connection. I have both computers set up with remote desktop enabled. When I go to Remote Desktop and enter the static IP address, I get an error saying it can't connect because 1) Remote access to server not enabled (it is) or 2) Remote computer is turned off (it is not) or 3) Remote computer not available on network (then why can I see both computers when I click on the "network" link in Windows explorer? I am so frustrated I'm about ready to throw the computers out the window. Here I have 2 computers within 4 feet of each other, both on the same wireless network, and I can't get them to communicate with each other.

I'm a bit confused - is there a particular reason that your PC needs to be connected to both wired and wireless? Although there some cases where this might be needed, I think this is the root of your problem. Do they both also connect to a router wirelessly or is the reason you've got both interfaces active on the desktop because you're using it as a bridge between wired and wireless?

Hi, Regarding the homegroup issue, I suggest deleting the idstore.sst file from the following location. C:\Windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking Note: The AppData folder is hidden. Regarding the remote desktop issue, please go to check the following services.
