Can't get VanDyke Vshell to work when Windows Firewall is on
I have installed VanDyke Vshell, an SSH server on my Win 7 Professional 64 bit system. The company assures me that they have tested their program on a similar system, and it works. I have checked the firewall settings, and vshell is allowed both in the main firewall settings and in the advanced incoming connections for both private and domain networks. My system is connected via an ethernet connection to my work network, which is identified as a private network. I have also installed VanDyke SecureCRT, which is an SSH client, and it works fine. I have also installed VNC, a remote desktop system, and both the client and server work. Windows remote desktop also works. I have reinstalled vshell several times, and reset the firewall settings, but it does not work. When I turn off the firewall, it works. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Ellis Golub

Hi Ellis, As we know, one should not turn off the Firewall as that might cause security threat to the computer. I would suggest you to contact the vendor for more information. If by any chance your computer is on a domain you might need to contact the administrator of the network and check if they can be of any assistance. Hope this information is helpful. Hi, Since the Vshell is a third party software which we do not have enough knowledge about it, I suggest you involve the manufacturer for further assistance about the symptom. Also, based on my research, I would like to share you the following article to troubleshoot the issue. vshell-x64.3.6.2.446 on Windows 7 Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. Regards, Novak
