Can't download anything from microsoft
Finished installing a few applications and wanted to install msn. Went to download it from official link http://wl.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/F/2/B/F2BDDA8A-F285-440B-98CE-BABEE6CA0B0E/en/wlsetup-custom.exe and firefox can't connect (same with ie) So i went to check windows update and it keeps searching for more than 15 mins for updates and nothing. I can barely open ebuddy as well. I have tried a few of the methods mentioned in here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/a0dc1999-ce38-49f7-b1a2-e0571cf4229b and here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/562845f3-78d5-42a0-bed5-e3fd39f01df7 but it's not working for me. As i said i can't download a single thing that comes from microsoft.com Here is what i get from Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer http://i38.tinypic.com/1zew00n.png see this photo maybe it helps http://i38.tinypic.com/4llv6h.png It looks like my Ip is blocked from microsoft servers.

Why doesn't anyone reply around here? Windows updates worked fine for me till some time ago, like 10 days ago. I could update without a single problem. Now i can't and even after i have made a clean installation of windows. How is that possible? It's like microsoft has banned my ip from their servers or something. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP

Hi Erjen, It seems that your DNS related settings are incorrect. I suggest you perform the following steps to check the issue. Download freeware Anti-Malware Remover from the following link. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability. 2. After downloading it, please double-click the downloaded file to install it. 3. After installing it, please launch it to scan and remove Trojan or viruses. Suggestion 2: Reset TCP/IP, proxy and DNS ===================== 1. Click the Start Button, click "All programs", and click "Accessories". 2. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. Please enter the following commands, and press enter after each NETSH INT IP RESET NETSH WINHTTP RESET PROXY IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS 4. Restart the computer to check the issue. Whats the result? If the issue persists, would you please upload the following information to SkyDrive and provide us the link for analyzing? Collect HiJackThis log ============================= 1. Please download HijackThis from the following link: http://www.techspot.com/download317.html HijackThis is a tool to collect some system settings information which is useful for further troubleshooting. Note: The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by vendors independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability. 2. A Notepad window will appear, please click File, Save As... to save it as HJT.log (or other file name you like) on the Desktop and sent it to us. Arthur Li - MSFT

I would consider the source of your installation media. Free is not what it seems. Read here. There are also Firefox vulnerablities.

I do get your point Nano Warp but this is not the case. I gave my DVD to a friend of mine and it's working fine for him. He can use windows updates and download anything from microsoft.com without any problems.

Hi Erjen, After performing analysis on the Hijackthis log you provided, I suggest you fix the following malicious entries using the Hijackthis tool: ------------------------------------- O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{14A2F1EC-750E-40A6-8670-A2E5A6D17346}: Domain = abissnet.al O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{14A2F1EC-750E-40A6-8670-A2E5A6D17346}: NameServer = 80.91.126.31 77.242.31.31 O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{14A2F1EC-750E-40A6-8670-A2E5A6D17346}: Domain = abissnet.al O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{14A2F1EC-750E-40A6-8670-A2E5A6D17346}: NameServer = 80.91.126.31 77.242.31.31 ------------------------------------- To do this, please refer to the following steps: 1. Run HiJackThis. (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 2. In the HiJackThis Window, click "Do a system scan only". (Note: If there is a notification message, please click OK.) 3. Check the checkboxes beside the malicious entries listed above and click the "Fix Checked" button. 4. Click Yes to begin fixing the infected files. If it does not work, I also suggest you modify the registry. 1. Click the "Start" Button, in the Search bar, type: "REGEDIT" (without quotes), and press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2. Select Computer (the root node) in the left pane, click Export under the File menu, choose All in "Export range", select Desktop from the left panel, type "backup" in File Name, and click Save. Note: We can delete this file, after resolving this issue. 3. Go to the following Registry batch by clicking the PLUS (+) sign HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU 4. Please right-click the "AU" key, and click "Delete". Click "Yes" to confirm the changes. If the issue still cannot fix, I would like to collect the WindowsUpdate.log from you via SkyDrive. 1. Press the Windows key and the R key at the same time, type: %windir% and press Enter. 2. Locate a file named "WindowsUpdate.log" and send it to us. Arthur Li - MSFT
