Can't connect to win2k Server from Windows 7 Ultimate
I cannot connect to a Win2k Server (which is also a domain) from a Windows 7 Ultimate computer. The name exists on the Win2k Server and I CAN logon with name and password from any other XP computer.net use z:\\servername\folder /user:domain\John hispasswordgives me: System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. I can connect to the win2k server with microsoft Virtual PC from the Windows 7 computer. But I shouldn't have to do this, I should be able to connect from the windows 7 session. Based on info I found elsewhere: LmCompatibilityLevel is set to 1 Lan Manager Authentication Level "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" Network Discovery is enabled File and print sharing is on Password protected sharing is off Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers 128 bit encryption is off Network access: Allow anonymous SID/name translation Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and Shares Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and sharesThanks.

Hi, Can you manually access the shared folder in Network folder from Windows 7 machine? Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Temporarily turn off firewall on each machine.2. Modify the following registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System Create or modify 32-bit DWORD: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy And set the value to: 1 Thanks,Novak
