Can't connect to domain with Windows 7 ultimate. Please help
Hi Every one, Bought a laptop from dell with windows home premium. I had just upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate from windows 7 home premium. I can't connect to domain machine running NT4 at my office. My desktop machine running windows 2000 connect easily. Message I got is "The Specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". Any advice would be helpful to me. Regards Khalid

Make sure both your Laptop's domain name (for example, workgroup) and your domain machine running NT4 are same that is if your Laptop's domain name is "workgroup" then the other PC's domain name must be workgroup. Also check that in the Laptop, in the Network Sharing Center, in the advanced sharing settings, the network discovery, file sharing is enabled. If everything is ok, then check the IP addresses of both PCs and make sure that IP address configuration is correct and you can ping both PCs from each other. If ping fails then there might be IP address misconfiguration which usually causes by using both static and dynamic IP address assignment. Also check if any Firewall/Antivirus is blocking network connectivity which is very common.
