Can't connect outside of local network with Vista Pc, DHCP, once mask is broadend from /24 to /16 it can.
Hi all,we have a peculiar problem with some of our VIsta PCs. Our DHCP server gives out IPs with a /24 (255.255.255.0) subnet mask. None of our XP machines have any issue reaching networks outside of the local subnet. The Vista PCs on the other hand do. They can only access PCs, Printers ... in the subnet, but not beyond including the internet. When we realized this we changed to fixed IPs and we have the same problem.During testing we broadend the subnet mask to a /16 (255.255.0.0) tht Vista PCs can access the internet and other subnets.Has anyone seen anything like this before.

Hi, Can the Windows Vista machines ping the Default Gateway and DNS server when they get the IP address with a /24 subnet mask? Additionally, please collect the following information for further research: 1. Route table (route print) and Windows IP Configuration (ipconfig /all) when the Windows Vista machine gets an IP address with a /24 subnet mask. 2. Route table and Windows IP Configuration when the Windows Vista machine gets an IP address with a /16 subnet mask.
