Can't backup to external hard drive on router
Windows 7 is working great for me but I'm having trouble getting the Backup program to work. I recently updated my router to the Belkin N+ router and have attached an external drive to it. I can see the drive just fine under my computer and have successfully dragged and removed files from it. However, when I start the backup program it doesn't give this drive (Z) as an option? I tried clicking on the "Save ona Network" drive but it only list othercomputers on my network as anoption, not theexternal drive connected to router???By the way, when I initially setup the backup program, I hadtried another router prior to this one that failed misreably (Linksys 610). It still shows this network location in the list but obviously doesn't work since that router is not connected anymore. Is there any way to remove it (I've already tried hitting refresh multiple times with no luck)? Thanks!

If you choose to perform a new full backup is your Z:\ drive offered as a destination?Jim - MVP Windows Live - Forum Moderator - Live One Care - Live Mesh - Microsoft Security Essentials

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear. No, when I try and do a new full backup I get the same thing...no Z drive. It shows me an option of a D hard drive (partition from my C), DVD drive E, and then network drives. When I explore for network drive options it shows other computers in my workgroup at home but does not show the Z drive. I know that the Z drive is working and accessible though as I downloaded a shareware backup program thatbackups files over to the Z drive fine. However, it's not near as nice as the Windows Backup one, nor does it have the same features so I would really like to use what's included with Win 7 if possible. Any thoughts?
