Can't acquire TCP/IP address to connect to internet after reinstalling XP.
I recently updated to windows vista, but had to switch back to XP because vista would not work with one of my programs. After switching back to XP my computer can not connect to the internet. It says it can not acquire a TCP/IP address. My wireless laptop works, and the cable provider says the signal is good, but the Dell Dimension that is directly connected will not connect to the internet. I have tried repairing the connection, setting a new connection, and anything else I could think of or find in the help menu. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a manual IP address I can enter? Everything works except the internet connection.Read more: http://www.justanswer.com/tags/computer/Dell?r=ppc|ov|1|Computer+%2D+Top+Brands|Dell&JPRC=1&JPKW=dell%20computer%20help&JPKD=335870649511&JPDC=S.std&JPAD=67958233511&JPRQ=dell%20computer%20help&JPAF=txt&JPCD=20091204#ixzz0cvPEwV372 people need an answerI do too

After you installed XP did you then go to Dell's website and install all the XP drivers for your hardware? This will include the drivers for the network adapter.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
