Can't access to the shared printer in the office network!
Hello everyone!I installed win7 rc 7100 on my office PC, and the OS of the other PCs in my office are XP professional. The printer is EPSONS Stylus R390 with USB plug.1. When I attache the printer to my win7 PC, Ican print normally and I set the printer sheared. The others can see the printer in the list when they add the printer, but theycan't connect it because it requires username and password. I set no password, but still popup the window for username and password;2. I attached the printer to another XP PC, it works properly and the others can share it to print. But my PC with Win7 can't. WhenI tried to connect the printer, sometimes it shows in the list, sometimesdosn't. Enven when it shows, a window pops up saying "Can not connect to the printer";3. I tried the way of setting theprinter"local port", but it dosn't work at all, a window says "can not initiat the setup";4.I also tried to connect to other two printers in the network, they all worked properly. But I still have to use the EPSON R390 printer.Anyone give me some help? Thanks a lot!

Does the printer connect to the Windows XP now? Most of network printing problems are caused by printer driver. Maybe because it is a test version so many manufacturers do not release drivers specially for it. Some Windows Vista drivers work in Windows 7 systems. The driver can be download from the following website. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.2. Click Add a Printer. 3. Select "Add a local printer". 4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port. 5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer] Then click Next. 6. Choose the correct driver in the driver list. If no available driver, click the button Windows Update, wait for the process finishes and then look for the driver again.7. Finish the installation. If network printing still does not work, the driver may not support. In this case, you may connect the printer to the Windows 7 computer. If it work, please share this printer with other users. I suggest that you create the same username/password (or no password) on every computers. Otherwise, you need to enter the user name on the Windows 7 computer if authentication session window prompt when access the printer from other printer. Do not need to enter password if there is no password. If it does not work, you may disable Password Protected Sharing and enable Guest account in Windows 7.Arthur Xie - MSFT
