Can't access or ping nas from Win7
I have just installed Win7 RC on a brand new machine (clean install), everything including network is working fine. But I can not access or ping my NAS (LaCie Ethernet Disk mini - Home Edition) both Win 7PC and NAS are connected by wire toa d-link 524 router. I can ping my XP home laptop (connected wireless to router) from Win 7 PC and I can ping the NAS from the laptop by IP (static IP setup in router configuration).Any ideas?

No, my NAS is a home edition so it comes with the HipServ Desktop Agent, which I tried to install but it doesnt really work. Anyway since the NAS i working on the network I believe that I should be able to ping it, or what?I did try to ping before I installed any antivirus and disabled windows firewall, no connection at all.

Couple easy things to check - are you getting DHCP on the Win7 machine or did you hard code the ip? You may want to just double check you didnt type in the subnet mask incorrectly if so. Also are you trying the NAS from the windows 7 machine via ip address or strictly name? You may also want to try it with any firewalls off.

Have you tried manually mapping drives to it? It works for me, just map a drive and type in \\NAS_Name or \\IP_address of the NAS and it should connect.

My router is managing DHCP, PC's get a 192.168.0.xxx adress dynamicly and the NAS has a static 192.168.0.xxx adress congifured in the router setup.Nas is working fine with both XP home and XP Pro PC's. But on the Win7 PC I can't even pint it.

If you can ping successfully from two other machines then it sounds like a winsock problem. you will need to reset it. to do this go to the command prompt and type netsh winsock reset then reboot your computer, check your ip address, subnet and gateway. if all of that is correct then ping the nas first by reverse lookup and then check dns by pinging by forward lookup.
