Can't access certain websites - including microsoft.com
I am having a problem with a brand new DELL machine that came with Win7 and IE8.microsoft.com,epson.com and newegg.com are a few examples. I have also tried FireFox with the same results. I've turned off or uninstalled AV software, turned off firewall settings, I even tried the compatibility mode that IE8 has - no luck. However, I also have a couple other machines on my home network that are not having this problem (they are XP or WinNT machines with IE7 or before). They connect to all the sites the new machine can not. One thing of interest, I unhooked some of the network cables and plug them in directly to my dsl modem and Win7 detected this as a new connection and setup a new network and the problem appeared to be solved. I put the cables back the way they were and everything still was ok. But I powered back on the next day and everything was as before - could not access certain sites again. So given that I could access the site for a short time on the new machine (despite losing it again the next day) and the fact that the other machines I have don't have this problem, I would not think this problem would be caused by my ISP server. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Holton179, Do you mean if the Windows 7 computer disconnects to the router and connect to the DSL modem directly, it works fine? If so, I suggest you check if there is any firmware update for your router and reset the router to check the issue. If the issue persists, would you please upload the following information to SkyDrive and provide us the link for analyzing? You may check how to use SkyDrive for more information. Collect HiJackThis log ============================= 1. Please download HijackThis from the following link: http://www.techspot.com/download317.html HijackThis is a tool to collect some system settings information which is useful for further troubleshooting. Right click the downloaded HJTInstall.exe file and choose "Run as administrator". Provide administrator password or click Allow if you are prompted to do so. 3. Click the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" Button. 4. A Notepad window will appear, please click File, Save As... to save it as HJT.log (or other file name you like) on the Desktop and sent it to us. Arthur Li - MSFT
