Can't View Saved Videos

Hi,

I went to view some videos from a recent vacation yesterday and realized that something was wrong with my computer. After I double clicked on the file, the video app acted like it was going to open, but closed itself out instead. I tried other video programs and got a message that a problem had occurred. I installed my updates, but I still can't view my videos. I am running a McAfee security scan and I am following Windows' directions for finding and fixing corrupted files.

The video files show up in the folder with the video app thumbnail, but their name does have the IMG as if they are pictures.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Hi Can'tSeeVideos,

What is the Player you are using ? Will all the videos come across this issue or just the specific one? Have you got any error code or error messages?

"The video files show up in the folder with the video app thumbnail, but their name does have the IMG as if they are pictures."
We can try to right click the video chooose "open with"and choose a player to open the video to have a check. If it can be played, we can configure the default program to open the video files.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set your default programs.

If you are using the Windows Media Player, we can try to run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories\Windows Media Player
