Can't Run as Administrator

Hello,

I can't seem to be able to run anything as an administrator (i have the privileges). When I try to run something as administrator nothing happens (no dialogues at all). This includes the command prompt.

Is there a service that may have been disabled? UAC is on,  Malewarebytes, and TDSS Killer didn't find anything.

I am using windows 8.1 64bit (6.3, build 9600)

Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM if you are on win 8 or higher
All instructions are in our Wiki article below...
Should you have any questions please ask us.

I ran both and had problems with both. SFC couldn't fix the corrupted files and DISM could not download source files (I am able to only use these commands from safe mode though since i can't open them as admin in normal mode). Should I add the logs from both? just copy and paste them?

When DISM cannot find the "source files" you can resolve that by mounting a win 8/8.1 image and pointing DISM at it.  (As explained in the wiki)

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps: Press the Win key + "R" and type eventvwr>enter Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post * If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do Press Win+"R" and input regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

The event log http://1drv.ms/1FWnvlq

I don't have an Image of the OS and the wiki seems to only have instructions for win10 iso

I'll try making an image but it'll probably be tomorrow. Thanks for the help I'll try the DISM again after that and report back here.

Hi,

If issue is only happened recently, then we can also choose to return the system to a previous state with system restore, please note that you will lose some recent configuration.

On the logon screen page, press "Shift" while clicking the restart icon

then Troubleshooting\Advanced Options\System Restore, then check if you perform a successful system restore there.

Kamil

You have some serious hardware issues and some moderate systems issues.

All sorts of HD related critical events and warnings.  This need to be addressed even before you worry about the software/OS.

In addition your storage driver (iastor.sys) is corrupt.  The HD issues may be causing the corruption or the corrupt driver may be causing the issues.

I would go to the HD maker, download and run their HD checking utility.

Ok thanks, this is a new laptop so I think that the problem may be drivers rather than hardware. I'll try checking my hard disk and report back.

Here is a SMART scan of the HD http://1drv.ms/1HNoHYv Is this scan enough?

I am also doing the DISM with an image.

Hi,

The wim file can be found under a iso which is mounted to a drive.
