Hi
Just wanted to share our problem and solution.
We buy Office Home & Business with our PCs because it's cheaper, and we have Lync on premises.
Recently some users started receiving this error. We tried alot of things but couldn't fix it, so we decided to create a case with Microsoft.
Now before i continue i want to explain something. There are two types of office:
Click-to-run - This installs from the internet and is meant for private customers.
MSI - This installs the good old fasioned way and is meant for businesses.
Microsoft told us that our office installations is a click-to-run installation and our Lync is a msi installation and running two different installations is not supported (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2753630),
so we should contact our local Microsoft support.
So i called our local Microsoft support. After two calls and getting transfered a few times we got this conclusion:
Office Home & Business is only available in a click-to-run installation and a Lync Retail (the click-to-run version of Lync) requires a new licens. So we were scr*wed.
Note: Lync Basic is free but has limited features and was therefore not a solution.
After experimenting with a lot of things we found out that the problem only occured on one model (Dell Latitude E7440). If we installed Lync Basic click-to-run it worked. If we moved the harddrive to another model it worked. So it must be something
driver/device and click-to-run that is causing it.
That's what we found out, but the solution was a whole other thing.
Normally you cannot activate Lync Retail with a volume licens that you get from VLSC, but we found out that if you install the lync version from vlsc first and then install the lync retail version afterwards without uninstalling the vlsc version, then
it is either already activated or you can activate it with a volume licens.

Solution:
Install Office Home & Business.
Install Lync.
Install Lync Retail (You can get this from the office single image on oem.microsoft.com)
If it asks for a licens then you can now activate it with a licens from VLSC.
The most annoing problem i have ever encountered.
