Can't Delete Taskbar Link
Hello,i'm facing a bit of trouble with the windows 7 taskbar. i had a itunes-link on it and it worked fine. now i've downloaded the new itunes version, installed it and the link won't work anymore. so i made a new link. and that's fine. now the problem is, i can't delete the old link. the link can be still moved around on the taskbar, but if left-clicked it says it only works with installed programms, and if right-clicked nothing happens.any one got an idea? having an useless link on the taskbar really isn't nice ^^"thanks

If you left click on the icon and try to drag it to the desktop a menu should appear with the option to unpin from taskbar.Windows 7 x64 RC, Asrock K8NF6P, AMD64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, Palit Geforce 8400GS 256MB, 500GB Maxtor SataII, Asus 1814BLT optical

Just tried it. Didn't work. Also i just tried to delete it in the "User Pinned"-folder. But the link wasn't even there.

FWIW, I encountered that the first time I installed the RC - in my case it was a Microsoft app thatI just couldn't remove from the taskbar. In the end I needed to reinstall the OS for other reasons so I never did find a solution. The only thing I can suggest off the top of my head would be to do a system restore prior to installing the new version of itunes, and then try to delete the shortcut before any changes were made. If that works, you could then reinstall the current version of itunes and reinsert the shortcut. Seems to be an infrequently encountered (but still very aggravating) bug. Stephen

this all might work ... however, i have tried it. windows told me that restoration didn't work because the anti-virus programm was on. i closed the anti-virus programm, ran restoration again and the restore point before the installation of itunes is gone. only the one after is left ... what am i gonna do ...

I *just* had this problem today with the newest iTunes update and it also drove me crazy. This is what I did to fix it (sorry for lack of specifics...) I am glad there is now a fix - with the beta, that didn't work. It would still tell you the shortcut didn't exist and ask whether you wanted to delete it but still left it there after saying yes. While it is not the most elegant of solutions, it at least sounds like it has at least been fixed enough to let you get rid of the link. An example of of a bit of positive progress from the beta....Stephen

I had this happen to me and I found out it was because I had made an icon on the task bar out of a shortcut rather than out of the exe itself. Usually this works, but this time it didn't. So what I did was delete the short cut, then relaunch the link on the task bar. It said it couldn't find the application and asked if I wanted to delete the link. Everything worked out great. :D
