Hi, May I know what VPN software you are using? What exactly error message did you receive? Please refer to this article to setup VPN connection . http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Set-up-a-remote-connection-to-your-workplace-using-VPN The built-in VPN connection don't need special service. Just update your NIC driver from manufacture's site. If you use the VPN client, the software will install the related service during the installation. Therefore, try to reinstall your VPN client to check the result. Hello Niki, your link nor your answer answers the question. There has to be a service. What is the name, regardless of the fact it should work. I would assume it is the default windows 7 VPN service. Windows 7 doesn't say a third party VPN service needs to be installed and run. By the way, I am commenting here, because I am having the same problem. The VPN connection says it's working, but the connection says no network connection.
