C Drive Acess Denied
I have been looking at a problem where access and ownership has been removed to the C Drive making the drive inaccessible. The OS is Vista Home Premuim. It is no longer possible to take ownership of the drive however the OS will still boot and I can log in. I have tried a system repair on the OS which did not resolve the problem. Please can you give any other advice on how to solve this issue?

Hi, I suspect that it is caused by virus or malware, I would like to recommend you to update the security software to the latest and scan the whole computer. Meanwhile, you can use some of the online removal tools located at: McAfee If the issue persists, try to reset the security setting to the default. Please take the following steps: 1. Click Start, type: CMD and then right click on the CMD in the list and then select Run as Administrator. 2. In the command prompt, please run the following command and then press Enter to reset the security setting. secedit /configure /db defltbase.sdb /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /verbose 3. Restart the machine. Similar issue: Access denied to C: Drive Best Regards Dale QiaoTechNet Subscriber Support in forum. If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
