CTRL-ALT-DEL no longer works
Dell latitude E6410. Corporate user who logs into a domain. User can no longer login because pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL does not bring up the login screen. You can click easy access and bring up the on screen keyboard as a workaround. Once you use the on screen
keyboard to invoke the login screen, you can then use the keyboard to input password. CTRL-ALT-DEL still does not work once logged in. Done a lot of searching and no answer so far. I've checked the usually suspects. This is what I've tried:
Problem exists also in Safe Mode.
Full system scan with Kaspersky. Nothing.
Full system scan with Malwarebytes. Nothing.
Built in keyboard hardware was checked. All keys work and do send the appropriate code. Del, Alt and Cntrl keys all work in Word etc....
External USB keyboard works but still no CTRL-ALT-DEL
Check obvious registry keys to no avail.
Check GPeditor for possible login changes. All are set to default.
User said that this happened after a MS update. I did a system restore back prior to the updates but still no fix. Appreicate any help on this one.

Was the language set to US English or some other language?
Was there more then one language?
Keyboard
US
should be the first language and if it is not you need to move it up.

No, just US English. There was an entry for "Other -> Ink Correction" but doesn't make a difference, still doesn't work.
This has got me baffled. I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issue because this guy is not a power user yet not a novice user.

Don't think that's a valid fix for this particiular issue. The machine is part of a domain and therefore domain policies apply which would overide whatever changes this fix makes. Just looking at it manually, all it does is allow you to bypass the login
process. This machine has been set to login with CTRL-ALT-DEL. I'm already prompted to press CTRL-ALT-DEL, I have no interest in providing non restricted login I just want CTRL-ALT-DEL to invoke the login process.

I'd guess, that this is a hardware problem - have you tried to plugin
just a simple keyboard and test with that?

Hi,
In order to narrow down the issue, I suggest to remove the PC from the domain first.
If startup repair and system restore cannot resolve your issue, you may try to perform an in-place upgrade for test:

User came in this morning. He plugged the machine in and used the on screen keyboard to login. You can do this by pressing WindowKey-U to bring up easy access. Once logged in, he was asked to download and install MS updates. He did so. Upon reboot
CTRL-ALT-DEL key sequence now works! If that doesn't smell fishy, I don't know what does....
