I just started having the same problems. I tried the turning off system restore, reset the winsock, run a spysweeper, make sure the service is set to start automatically, and then reset. It failed to work. I scanned my computer in safe mode with different virus and spyware sweepers and had nothing on it. I truly think that the files are missing or corrupt. I was hopeful when I saw this thread, but apparently no one cares. Please, if you have found a solution to this, post it. Thanks.

Hi Willer01 and jerleaming,I could have helped you quickly had I logged in to this yesterday. Considering jrleaming's statement, I would still recommend you (Willer01) to try these steps:1. Reboot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. If you have a Wireless Internet Connection Type, have a hardwire internet connection. To reboot in Safe Mode with networking: a. Press the restart button. b. The moment you press the restart button, keep on tapping F8 until the Advanced Boot Options appear. C. Select Safe Mode with Networking2. Open Internet Explorer browser and go to http://safety.live.com.3. Run a Full Service Scan of the OneCare Safety Scanner.4. Take note of the items that are detected but cannot be removed, if any. Get back to me with the names of infections that cannot be removed, if any.5. After removing the infections (if any), boot back in the Normal Mode by simply restarting the computer the normal way you do it. Check if you could start the Windows Firewall/ICS service. If you still cannot turn it on, do these steps:1. Click Start.2. Click Run.3. Type MSCONFIG.4. On the General Tab, Normal Startup must be selected. If not, select Normal Startup.5. Click Apply.6. Click OK.7. Restart the computer and see if it boots back up in the Normal Mode. Try enabling Windows Firewall/ICS service. Just did this and it absolutely worked. Spent hours troubleshooting and this was the good fix. While TDSS Killer removed the rootkits, one thing all of you should know is that rootkits more often than not include trojan downloaders which download and install additional malware without your knowledge meaning your computer still has malware.Install, update and perform full scans with both of the scanners below.Malwarebytes.orgSUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!I don't vote for myself I'm not here for the points.
