CMAK based VPN connection icon is grayed out and won't launch on Win7
Hello, I have a user with Win7 that has come to me for the second time saying his VPN connection no longer works. The CMAK based VPN icon is grayed out and won't launch. The first time, I just reinstalled the VPN, and deleted the old icon. Has worked fine for about one month. Now same thing again. VPN connection icon is grayed out, and of course does nothing when you try to launch it. I can go ahead and reinstall for the third time, but most likely he will have the problem again. I would like to know why this is happening. Any suggestions what might be causing this? Thanks much. DDaleS

Hi, Which type of VPN are you using? Are you using third-party VPN software? To make this issue clear, please capture the related screenshot: How to capture a screenshot ========================= 1) Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click “Desktop” on the left pane and then click "Save". 6) Then Upload to SkyDrive. Hi Alex, No third party VPN software. On my Server 2003, I ran the CMAK (Connection Manager Administrator Kit) to create the VPN client configuration. Then run the exe file that CMAK generates, on each users system to create their VPN client, which also adds a shortcut to their desktop. Only on this Win7 computer am I having this problem. All other users are using the same VPN client. Most on XP, but a few have migrated to Win7. It is now to the point I am not even able to run the exe to succesfully reinstall this VPN client. I delete the old client, reinstall the exe file and it looks like it is creating the client, but it is also is grayed out and won't launch. Something in the registry? As a work around until I have a solution, I created a new VPN client on his Win7 system. This one is working for now. Thanks. DDaleS
